Reason and Prerequisites

This note is intended for the front-end Business Explorer users of BW 3.x and BI 7.x.
For a general understanding of how the check tools operate in an SAP installation system, refer Notes 918394 and 197460.

Solution
Overview

This note contains a description of the BEx front-end check toolsapbexc.xla. In addition, it describes possible sources of errors during the front end installation and their correction.

Note

In front-end patches
“SAP BW 3.5 Frontend for SAP GUI 7.10″ patch level 4 and
“SAP NW BI 7.0 Frontend Add-On for SAP GUI 7.10″ of patch levels 600 to 801, the file sapbexc.xla was accidentally renamed SAPBExCheck.xla.

Checking an installation on a PC

Procedure
1. Open the file sapbexc.xla contained in the attachment to this note.2. Select the worksheet “PC check”.3. Choose “Start”.

In the checking mechanism, the old strategy of RED, YELLOW, GREEN and BLUE is used.
Note 197460 contains information about executing the version check tools and the meaning of the results.
